Mother's Day Flowers: Top Tips for Keeping Them Fresher for Longer!

Many mothers will receive stunning flowers as Mother's Day gifts this month! It’s so easy to keep your Mother’s Day flowers looking vibrant and healthy! Here are some top tips from our florists on how to take care of those stunning stems and help them look fresh for longer:

Top Tip 1: Treat them to a trim

Although it can be tempting to pop your Mother’s Day flowers straight into water, trimming your flower stems before putting them into a vase is a must! We recommend cutting two to three inches off them, before popping them into their new home! Removing any leaves on the flower stems that fall below the waterline will also help to avoid them spoiling the water.

Top Tip 2: Change the water regularly

To prolong the life of your Mother’s Day flowers, we recommend replacing the water every couple of days, and removing any debris from the vase to reduce the risk of bacteria festering. If you notice your water is slightly cloudy, it needs to be changed. For the best result, tip all the water out, clean the vase and then put them back in. Remember, clean and cold water is best for your blooms!

Top Tip 3: Keep them cool

Your flowers will last longer in a room with a cool temperature. Avoid placing them in direct sunlight or near appliances that generate too much heat. Don’t forget, its best to avoid areas near open windows or vents as they can cause flowers to dehydrate.

Mother’s Day is always lovelier with a bouquet of her favourite blooms.
